Yes wtf football, Saturday at 3PM, whatever next?
Team should be more similar to how we finished. We can definitely beat Chelsea. This should be fun.

If Antonio isn't knackered after his efforts last night I would go same team as Miike with Antonio for Benrahma and him and Cornet switching sides.

You'd like to say no idea how we'd line up with so many options and also needing to rotate.

Yet I can see Moyes making one change Paqueta for Benrahma

Looking forward to this one. Chelsea are struggling right now with injuries and results. Our new look team have a fantastic chance of beating them. I pick,

Fabianski
Johnson Kehrer Zouma Emerson
Soucek Rice
Bowen Paqueta Cornet
Scamacca

2-1 to the boys from East London

I think we can all be in agreement that paqueta has to start (for benny)

I would bring Emerson in for cresswell

Then depends on fitness between Scamacca and Antonio

At this point Bowen is on think ice and cornet must be pushing him.

Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread
No I disagree. Paqueta is not ready to start. He has hardly trained with the squad and at times looked lost on the pitch. His English is poor too, that will take time to improve. He will need time to learn how to play in this team, what his role is and get to know the squad. So have him on the bench for a few cameo appearances as he settles in. His quality is clear to see, but the last thing we want is throw him in at the deep end and demoralise him.

Our principle weakness is LB, Cresswell is a liability in more ways than one, Palmeiri to start against his old team.

Turn it in Limpar son, he's not ready because he doesn't speak great English?

I've seen enough of Cornetto to know I dont want to see him on the right anymore. Looks so much better on the left but has been a little disappointing for me so far in his fleeting appearances so far. Mostly out of position to be fair to him.

You numpty Vexed! The boy has to finish his GCSE English before he can kick a ball here, even those risking their lives coming across the channel have to take an English proficiency exam before we let them in?

Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Vexed. If you were at the game you wouldn’t have seen the confusion when Paqueta was being prepared to be brought on, on TV. Nolan gave him instructions that he couldn’t understand, Areola came forward to translate into French for the Brazillian… He needs to pick up some pigeon English and get to know the squad first. I’d still bring him on as sub given his quality and to get used to the speed of the Prem.

A French mate of mine who follows Lyon said he is technically gifted and, can be very physical which is unusual for a Brazillian. The problem is end product.

Anders 12:50 Thu Sep 1
Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Moyes also hilariously tried and failed to give him instructions too

Right so we're not going to play out record signing till he learns a new language

ludo21 3:20 Thu Sep 1
Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread
This language thing is a red herring.... the player that Paqueta was 'confused' with over the missed shooting chance last night was Emerson who may be an Italian international but was born in Brazil and lived there until he was 20.

ludo21 3:23 Thu Sep 1
Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread
.... Paqueta and Emerson also played in the same Lyon side last season. Could understand the confusion with any other player but not Emerson.

Anders 4:32 Thu Sep 1
Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Mr Anon

Wouldn’t play him due to language barrier, although that is a factor, more that he needs time to understand the system, his role, gets to know his fellow players. In short a bit of training needed first. But I’d have him on the bench to come on for 20-30 mins until he is ready. Don’t want him lost on the pitch as he was for quite a bit of his appearance against the spuds.

Hammer and Pickle 5:06 Thu Sep 1
Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Language shouldn’t be that much of an issue once he starts training with the squad. It’s not as if he is being asked to present financial strategy or write a journal article - and neither were Tevez or Payet come to think about it.

Re: ⚽ Chelsea v West Ham - Official Match Thread
At one point kuluveski went past cresswell as if he was standing still . He gave him 5 yards yet still beat him over no more than 20 yards . Cresswell great servent but is finished. At this level . Reminds me of Mike Tyson post prison. Tyson still had fast hands but couldn't slip the jab unlike the younger version. Cresswell can still deliver a beautiful set piece but can't run .
